The East Side

The Dish:

I had no idea I even liked gin until I tried this cocktail. In fact most of my friends I have made it for said the same thing. With the fresh cucumber and lime you only need a little added sweetness. I tried several ratios for this cocktail and this is my favorite. Enjoy!

Serving Size: 1 cocktail

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 ounces gin

  • 1 ounce fresh lime juice

  • 1/2 ounce simple syrup (below)

  • 8 mint leaves

  • 2 slices of cucumber

  • 1 thin slice of cucumber (garnish)

Simple Syrup

Combine equal part water and sugar in a saucepan and heat and stir until the sugar dissolves. Doing 1/2 cup water with 1/2 cup sugar will give plenty for this recipe.

DIRECTIONS

Prepare the simple syrup. Let cool before using.

Place your cocktail glass in the freezer so it is chilled.

Lightly muddle the cucumber and mint leaves in a shaker. Add the gin, lime juice, and simple syrup and shake well with ice. Strain into the chilled glass and float the cucumber garnish on top. Cheers!
